Practice Fields- Spring in New England is always wet and muddy, and as a result the school frequently closes the fields in an effort to preserve them for game play. Practices are then moved to the gymnasium, shortened, and soft rubber balls are substituted for lacrosse balls. This puts our teams at a significant disadvantage as most of the schools we compete against have turf surfaces or dedicated practice fields. We have secured practice time at the Wide World of Indoor Sports in Montville, but this expense is not covered by the school.

Winter Training- Beginning in January we begin working on conditioning, injury-prevention and lacrosse skills at the Incarnation Center. It’s also a great time for team bonding and welcoming the freshmen into the program. The coaching and training staff is 100% volunteer, but we do need to pay for the facility rental.
-
Winter League Games- Also starting in January our student-athletes have the opportunity to play in the indoor lacrosse league at Montville’s Wide World of Indoor Sports. Team chemistry is born here and this paves the way for success in the spring lacrosse season. As with winter training the coaching staff is strictly volunteer, but league fees must be paid.

Senior Night- Each spring we celebrate our seniors with flowers for moms, posters for student-athletes and food for all. This year we are excited to be working with Director of Facilities Leigh Rankin and Athletic Director Jeff Swan to have senior night under the lights. This should be a tremendous night! This will require adding lacrosse field lines to the football field and the boosters will need to cover the costs.
-
Food & Drinks / Away Games- The booster club provides sandwiches and drinks for the players for the more distant away games as well as snacks and drinks for the closer ones. Adam’s Supermarket supplies these at very reasonable prices, but it is an expense to the club.
-
Snack Shack- Proceeds from the snack shack help fund the club. Items are typically donated by families.
-
Banquet- At the close of the spring lacrosse season, we honor our players with a banquet. Thanks to the Riders, 2019 saw this event at the Essex Yacht Club. This is a tremendous and affordable venue for the festivities. It includes awards for the players and presents for the coaches. It’s also a fitting farewell to the seniors, many of whom are putting a bow on their lacrosse careers.
-
Scholarships- The boys booster club awarded its first scholarship in 2019. Our goal is to generate meaningful scholarships through our corporate partners, alumni, and individual benefactors.
